An anthology of football poetry.
Ann Langton spent a year collecting an anthology of poetry which charted the history of football.
At first it was tempting to go down the ‘chronological look’ route again: the material stretched from ancient China to the modern day game in Europe. But then we went off to the national Football Museum with cap in hand to borrow half of their collection.
The result: a tight typographical grid through which the poetry flowed with a quiet classical elegance, juxtaposed with every type of violent visual anarchy that we could throw at the beautiful game.
