Cover design and Music profile.

After a lot of interest on the Creative Review Blog, some nice (and not-so-nice) comments about our work, a day-long stop-motion film about life in the Music studio, we were asked by Creative Review to design the cover for the issue in which they were running a profile piece.

Of course, we did it. I can't believe you're questioning us. Jeez.

So, naturally, we shit ourselves saying things like "well we had a good run" and "it was nice while it lasted" thinking that any ideas we had would simply signal the end.*

The cover, printed on greyboard with black foil, contains a to-do list documenting everything it took Music to get to the point of designing the cover of one of the best Design comics that your good, hard-earned money can buy. So, you gain experience and work for 15 years (not so accurate in my case, but we're on about the boys here) through a studio fire, and having ideas before realising that they've been done before, culminating in 'design front cover'—we didn't get to cross that one off.

We also added, for novelty and banality, a removable, oversized sticker for the bar code and price which is uniquely stuck on every front cover. So we squeezed in an idea on the list anyway.

*People are so easy to criticise these days. I wonder sometimes how people can smile these days there are so many sour-pusses out there. Net time you see something, don't be an ideas killer, have a good look—maybe a good read—and weigh things up. You'd be surprised how better things become when you just try and understand them. And that's enough philosophy from me for one day.

So here is where the list begins… …running the length of the magazine …with that lovely sticker on too.
