the project queue
An attempt to organise my thoughts.

Now here is where I have took a page from the Ronseal book: and done exactly what it says in the title.
My mum always used to call me a 'night rake' as she said that I couldn't relax at night because I was too busy sifting through the foliage of thoughts that had blown into my head throughout the day.
She is living proof that mother knows best.
Sometimes I have to write a list of what I need to get done before I can get my head down. Which leads me to this attempt to keep a running itinerary of, well, everything.
Here is my attempt to document the ideas, thoughts, research, junk, inspiration and generally anything that I want to remember: both that I've done, aim to do, or am doing at the minute. Read on if you like but I guess it's more for my benefit to let me sleep at night.

Long Distance Pass the Parcel
How could you execute a long distance game of pass the parcel, and could you trust everyone to send it to the next person? Maybe it could be a promotion for Royal Mail: every piece of wrapping could be a limited edition print of some kind so every participant gets a prize and not just the one that lady luck smiles upon?Hhmm.

Embarrassed Typeface
I want to collect a series of photographs of letters that are hidden by something or look like they are hiding and create an embarrassed typeface.

Kick that Football…
People can't resist kicking a football. I want to put the theory to the test by placing a large ball in a public place and document both how many people kick it and how far it travels on its journey.

Pink?
How come you can be tickled pink, and be in the pink if you feel great, but ridiculed as a huge girl if you wear it?

Letterpress Keyboard
I would love to make a keyboard for designers where the letters were replaced with letterpress blocks of their equivalent: blending the past with the future.

Second Life Lecture
I want to give a lecture to students or whoever would like to listen on Second Life™. I have a fella on there (shown below) he is called Craigmichael Oh, should you fancy a chat— although I'm hardly ever, ever on there.

Test the Postman
As you probably know with the hand.written.letter.project. I'm a sucker for letters. This love also extends to the postal service. I've always been fascinated with how a letter can leave your hands, dally inside a red metal tube on the street, until a person comes to pick it up. Then we get to the romantic bit. I then begin to wonder what journey my correspondence undertakes and try to guess where it might have been at any given point in its travels.
How many hands have touched the envelope and how many eyes have scanned its exterior?
Ahh, l'amour.
As I find these factors so interesting I am always looking for ways that I could entertain those to whom letters are a job. These are some of the ones I have done to date. However I find a letters journey to be a mysterious one— I know it's a mystery I probably could solve by getting a job in the postal service and the kind of letters I send, would become an annoyance. Probably.

Pebble Beach
I think it would be a nice little visual exercise to attach a 'stamp' onto pebbles, shells etc on a beach that read "do not throw" and/or "property of X beach. Do not remove" and then record peoples reactions as they notice them.

Take Me With You
I'm currently covering the second edition thunk© book in Velcro. The aim is to create a tangible documentation of the usage of the book— creating a canvas that collects and documents the surfaces on which I take out the book and document my thoughts. I will show you here when I've finished. Click on me, I'm a long, blue line that has a rule underneath when you run your cursor over. I'll take you to the Velcro bit.

Bakers Design
I had a little idea a while ago: nothing special but, I got thinking about bakeries whilst tucking into a cinnamon swirl (mmm…).
Wouldn't it be nice to work graphically with a bakery.
Now I've not given this my undivided attention but I thought there are loads of little things that you could do to bring a smile to peoples faces by branding a bakery. I got thinking about eating and how their product is entirely edible. I mean their stationery could be printed on rice paper in edible inks, business cards could be icing and have their photos printed on them (poor images but you get the jist): a moving card could be breadcrumbs, I think there are loads of possibilities.
Own a bakery? Get in touch with me then (worth a try hey).
