A First.
A short profile written for the Wally Olins DBA event.

People always remember firsts.
Their first word, their first step, their first kiss, and I’m no different.

While studying at Falmouth College of Arts I got a placement at Design Bridge—my first—that was gratefully followed by my first visit to Scotland where I spent some time working with Navyblue.

After graduating, with a first, I returned to London and did a placement with The Partners before crossing the border, returning North, where I worked towards my first job with The Chase.

The first undertakings in my new role as designer were working with Manchester Evening News, The Football Museums Poetry Book and York St John University’s new identity.

And what I’m quickly beginning to understand is that every brief is a first. And that this will be my first talkie.

NB. You can see the DBA's version online and a bit more about the event here. Be warned though, they changed the words a bit—to the kind of blurb where it looks like I talk about myself in the third person.
